The right colour for the job.
Colour coding keeps infectious linen, cytotoxic waste and cleaning tools apart, so staff know how to handle each one at a glance. Always follow your own facility’s infection control policy.
Soluble seam laundry bags
The bag dissolves in the wash, so staff never handle the linen inside. The colour tells the laundry what’s in it.
Red · Soiled linen
Everyday soiled linen. Cuts handling time for laundry staff and keeps them away from dirty linen.
Red soluble seam bags →Yellow · Infectious linen
When a resident or patient has an infection or is contagious. If a bag splits, staff know to take extra care.
Yellow soluble seam bags →Purple · Cytotoxic linen
Linen from a room where a resident is having chemotherapy or other cytotoxic treatment.
Purple soluble seam bags →Need the bag to disappear completely? Fully soluble bags dissolve in a hot wash (45°C or higher). Want a reusable option? Impermeable bags come in red and yellow.
Cleaning equipment
A colour code commonly used in Australian health and aged care, so a mop or cloth used in a bathroom never ends up in a kitchen.
Laundry bags
Our Durotech laundry bags come in 10 colours, so you can code them your own way: by ward, wing, linen type or resident.
